Working with Athletes
Advanced Institute of Motion
AIM works with athletes of all ages and sports, at every level, to enhance their natural athletic skill set.
“It’s really about doing physical mechanics with eyes closed — movements that mimic athletic patterns - so to challenge the skill set the athlete has within already. I use those mechanics to help the body find better alignment and flow- all coming from the center. It’s kind of like recreating the way the body moves in sports, but in a more controlled, intentional way. That helps enhance an athlete’s natural skill set — their speed, power, and coordination. I was forced to apply this in my own practices with my visual impairment and now I want others to experience this truly unique gift. of heightened senses”
“Alfredo’s vision to help the student athletes heighten their individual senses and the ability to increase their awareness all while keeping it all under control would prove to give our team the edge we needed. Alfredo created various exercises that challenged our players to complete tasks while potentially being out of their comfort zone; whether it was using touch, sound, or sight. He would make exercises tough by taking away eye sight and having guys complete a task under the pressure of time limits. I thought it was amazing to see how players would be just as energized, motivated and inspired, if not more, after the training sessions without any intense aerobic drills. Over the course of three seasons, Alfredo became an instrumental piece to the success of our program. He was with us at the West Coast Conference tournament in 2019, where we won the conference tournament placing LMU in the UCLA Regional for the first time in 19 years. More than that, he had become a mentor and inspiration to us all.”
